WCCA Board of Directors

The WCCA Board is made up of a diverse group of business and community leaders, all of whom volunteer their time and efforts to support the vitality and economic development of the West Colfax community.

Bunny Malm, Executive Director
Bunny was involved in the original incorporation of the City of Lakewood and served as Charter Chairman of the City’s first Board of Adjustment.  She served as a member of the Jefferson County Planning Commission, 2 years as Chairman, and 8 years as a member of the Lakewood Planning Commission, 1 year as Chairman.  She also served many years as a member of the Dignitaries Committee for Lakewood on Parade and as a Board member of Family Tree.  Her professional career has been spent in public and private administration. She is a member of the Board of the Lakewood Historical  Society,  a volunteer in the Lakewood City Clerk’s office and Chair of the Lakewood-West Colfax BID Association.  Bunny retired after many years of service in Jefferson County and First Judicial District Courts.

 

Becky Prall,  President
Becky has been a resident of Jefferson County for the past 37 years and with her husband, has owned  PEI Insurance Agency, a family owned independent insurance agency, located on West Colfax Avenue, for the past  12 years.   She joined WCCA in 2008 and has been actively supporting the community, supporting the Colfax Marathon and Colfax Avenue Cruise, as well as other local events.  She holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.

Peter Swanson, Vice President
Peter currently works at the neighborhood Edward Jones office located in the Westland Plaza on West Colfax. Peter is accredited with the AAMS® designation and makes every effort to build one-on-one relationships with those in the community, offering personalized attention and financial guidance. Peter and his wife are both Colorado natives and have lived in Jefferson County for the past 15 years. With his passion and dedication with working with people, he is excited to continue to take the WCCA vision into the future.

Sahsha Powell-Graves, Immediate Past President - Treasurer
Sahsha is a member of the Powell Insurance Agency, a family-owned company located in the Westland 1st Bank building,  representing  Farmers Insurance as Director of the Commercial Insurance Division. As President of the West Colfax Community Association her stated goal is to increase membership by helping business owners understand the value that WCCA can bring to their businesses.  “Having been in sales for most of my life, I love connecting people with those things that can serve to better their businesses, and thereby bettering the community”.

Kathi Hasfjord - Secretary
Kathi is Co-Chair of the Two Creeks Neighborhood Organization, as well as a volunteer at the Lakewood City Clerk’s Office.  She also served 2 terms on  the  Lakewood Board of Adjustment.  Kathi has lived in the Two Creeks area of Lakewood since 1974, volunteering at Molholm Elementary School for 4 years when her two sons attended. Both are now grown and reside in the same area.  Kathi graduated from Metropolitan State College and retired after 20 years service in the United States District Court in Colorado.


Linda Sundine - Membership Coordinator / Morse Park Neighborhood
Linda retired after 31 years with USDA Rural Development, where she was a loan and grant officer for small rural communities working with water and sewer systems, community development, businesses, and non-profits.  She is currently serving on the Board of the Morse Park Neighborhood Organization and is a member of the City of Lakewood Advisory  Commission for an Inclusive Community.

Maddie Nichols - Two Creeks Neighborhood
Maddie worked with the City of Lakewood in the initial development of the Molholm Plan beginning in 1993 and adopted by Lakewood City Council in 1996.  She has worked on the Two Creeks (Molholm) Board for 14 years and has represented Two Creeks on the WCCA Board for more than 5 years.  Maddie is also in charge of the Colfax Cleanup program in connection with the West Colfax Marathon.  She practiced 43 years as a pediatric nurse practitioner and is presently associated with Rocky Mountain Pediatrics located at 20th and Wadsworth  She and her husband Randy have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.

David Ruchman - Applewood Neighborhood
David is a 20-year resident of the City of Lakewood.  His academic background includes college in Baltimore, graduate school in the Bay Area and most recently he earned a law degree from the University of Denver, serving the Denver area as an Administrative Law Judge.  David served on RTD’s Citizen Advisory Committee studying transportation possibilities along the West Corridor, later serving as central Jefferson County’s RTD Board representative for 8 years. He also serves on the Helping Hearts and Hands Board and is a member of Jefferson County’s Aging Well Commission..

Nina Rockley - Music & Arts Festival
Nina has been associated with Rockley Music, a business established on West Colfax in 1946.  She is a charter member of the West Colfax Community Association Board of Directors, serving 2 terms as President.  She has been a member of several task force committees working for the improvement of West Colfax Avenue.  Her passion and positive vision for the future of West Colfax is reflected in her continuing interest and efforts for the betterment of the economic health and vitality of the West Colfax community.  Her personal interests include music, literature, cats, and most importantly, her family.

Linda Cochran - Senior Resource Coordinator
Linda is a long term member of the WCCA Board and has been associated for many years with Metro West Housing Solutions (MWHS) , an organization founded  in 1974 to provide safe, affordable, high quality housing to the Lakewood senior community.  She now serves as on-premise Director of the Willow Glens residential community located at Kipling Street and West Colfax Avenue.  Linda has been instrumental in forming a task force consisting of several residents of Willow Glens, who assist WCCA on a monthly basis, making telephone calls as needed and reminding members of upcoming meetings and events.

Mary Bindner - Business Association Liaison
Mary is a long-term Lakewood resident and property owner in the West Colfax Avenue community.  She serves many organizations, including West Chamber, Alameda Gateway, South Lakewood Business Association and the Jefferson County Business Lobby.  Mary served 13 years as a member of the Lakewood Board of Adjustment and is a former Lakewood City Councilor.  She has worked as a Board Member of Festival of the West, Lakewood on Parade, and the Jefferson County Historical Commission.

Nancy Calahan - Communications Liaison
Nancy has served the members of WCCA since 2003 as an active participant in community affairs.  She has served in many capacities related to  WCCA, as a member of the Board of Directors, President of WCCA, Vice President,  and currently as a  primary contact between the community and the membership.  Nancy worked as a GRI certified Realtor in the Lakewood area from 2002 to 2008.  Before moving to Lakewood in 1995 Nancy was a Human Resources Specialist working in the manufacturing industry.  In her personal life she enjoys playing golf, volunteering on several additional community Boards, organizing charitable events and helping others as a volunteer Life Coach.

Joe Margotte - Business Member
Joe is a established member of the business community along the West Colfax  corridor.  For the past 15 years he has owned and operated  Chicago, a family run restaurant serving Chicago-style food and Chicago style hospitality and history in generally equal proportions.  Joe is a long-time member of WCCA , serves as a Director on the West Metro Fire Board in District 3 and is an Officer and Trustee of Elks Lodge 1777.  Joe is a graduate of  Lakewood’s  Citizen Planning Academy and West Metro Fire District’s Citizen Fire Academy.  Joe and his wife Luanne have been married over 60 years and have five children, four of whom live in Lakewood. 

Bill Marino - Business Strategies / Lakewood-West Colfax BID
Bill brings 25+ years of communications, strategic planning, community relations, and marketing expertise to his service to WCCA.  As a successful entrepreneur, he has built and sold numerous companies, including NewTech Publishing (1989), Quantum Media (1997), and GS2.net (2001). Currently managing partner of SJI, Ltd./StarJunction Publishing and a principal in two national franchising companies, Bark Busters USA and G’day Pet Care, Bill has served on many boards, committees, and task forces, including the West Colfax Action Plan Committee, eight years as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Lakewood, two years as Chairman, and currently serves as Executive Director of the Lakewood-West Colfax BID.
Bill earned his BA degree in Language Arts from UCF, attended USF for graduate studies in Linguistics and Seton Hall University's Masters of Strategic Communications and Leadership Program.

Michael Kosakowski - Business Member
Michael is
an Assistant Vice-President at FirstBank where he has worked for the past five years. In addition to his duties as a member of the WCCA Board he also serves on the Foothills Animal Shelter Board of Directors.  Michael’s academic background includes a degree in Business-Marketing from the University of Wisconsin.

ira Watters - West Chamber of Commerce serving Jefferson County

Amira is a business owner in Lakewood, and has held the position of Director of Membership for The West Chamber Serving Jefferson County  since 2008.  She served as a West Chamber Ambassador for several years and was on  the Advisory Committee for the Business of Wellness. Amira is passionate  about helping Jefferson County businesses flourish and is a strong believer  in collaborative efforts within the community as demonstrated by her active participation in the activities of the WCCA where she sits as a member of the Board.
